The National Directorate for the Environment and Climate Change (DINAMC), with technical support from the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) through the Regional Spatial Biodiversity Assessment, Prioritization, and Planning (SBAPP) Project, held a technical meeting on August 4 and 5, in Maputo, a technical meeting to harmonize the components of Mozambique’s National Strategy and Action Plan for Biodiversity Conservation (NBSAP).
The National Directorate for the Environment and Climate Change (DINAMC), with technical support from the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) through the Regional Spatial Biodiversity Assessment, Prioritization and Planning (SBAPP) Project, held a technical meeting on August 4 and 5 in Maputo to harmonize the components of Mozambique’s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP).
The meeting brought together a total of 19 representatives from government institutions, civil society organizations, and technical partners, with the aim of reviewing and harmonizing the strategic objectives, actions, indicators, and budgeting aspects of the NBSAP, contributing to the consolidation of national biodiversity targets and their alignment with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
During the two-day meeting, participants reviewed the national strategic objectives, the actions proposed in the NBSAP matrix, the indicators associated with the biodiversity targets, and the budgetary requirements for implementing the planned activities.

The work was conducted through plenary sessions and technical working groups, allowing participants from different sectors to provide input and identify aspects requiring further harmonization and consolidation before the document is finalized. As a result, technical recommendations were incorporated to refine the NBSAP matrix, including the review of actions, indicators, and outstanding elements identified during the process.
The meeting represents another step in the process of updating Mozambique’s NBSAP, reinforcing the national commitment to biodiversity conservation, the sustainable use of natural resources, and the implementation of commitments made under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
