On October 4, 2025, the official ceremony for the delivery of vocational training kits to 34 young beneficiaries was held in the District of Mecula, as part of the strengthening of technical skills and the promotion of youth self-employment, with the support of the Northern Mozambique Rural Resilience Project (MozNorte), financed by the World Bank Group, channeled by the Foundation for the Conservation of Biodiversity (BIOFUND), and implemented in the Niassa Special Reserve (NSR) by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Mozambique in partnership with the National Administration of Conservation Areas (ANAC).
The trainees benefited from short courses in the areas of civil metalwork, electricity and photovoltaic systems, carpentry, plumbing, cutting and sewing, confectionery, and cooking. In total, 45 young people were trained, of whom 25 (6 girls and 19 boys) received training through the Alberto Cassimo Institute of Professional Training and Labour Studies (IFPELAC), and 20 through the Sustainable Education Center (CES) - Pemba, including 13 girls and 7 boys. Each beneficiary received a complete kit with essential tools and equipment for their profession, marking an important step towards their integration into the labor market and local economic development.
The handover ceremony was led by the Mecual District Administrator in coordination with the NSR Administrator. The District Admnistrator urged the young beneficiaries to manage the kits properly and use them for their intended purpose, further stating that the kits represent positive change in the social and economic lives of young people and the community in general, reinforcing the importance of not selling them.
In addition to delivering the kits, the District Administrator handed over 16 balls to the District Recreational Sports Commission at the Junta field, followed by a soccer match between teams Mambas do 5° Congresso and Futebol Clube de Ukupagua from the Administrative Posts and Localities Championship. On this occasion, the District Administrator encouraged young people to play soccer and other sports, adding that this year the government will begin construction of a multi-purpose sports field in the district.
The kit delivery ceremony in the District of Mavago is scheduled for October 8-10, covering 11 young beneficiaries. Of the total of 45 young people covered by the project, 34 belong to the District of Mecula and 11 to the District of Mavago.
