It is with deep regret and consternation that WCS Mozambique became aware of the tragic criminal attack that killed 13 employees at Virunga National Park, including 12 rangers.
Life has several mysteries, the biggest of which is death. We can never understand why loved ones leave this world. The pain we feel is immeasurable because of your losses. At these times there is no word that can be said to be able to comfort our hearts. Everything seems to lose its meaning and become small in the face of such suffering.
The only thing that we, your friends and colleagues, can do is make ourselves available to listen when you want to speak, and offer our shoulders and friendly heart to support you.
There is nothing capable of repairing losses like these, but in the name of the friendship and love of those who remain, and in honor of the memory of those who have left, it is necessary to continue living. It is necessary to transform mourning into a struggle for life and happiness in order to increasingly make the world a better place for all of us, and to transform pain into longing and serenity.
Our most sincere condolences!
