Following the President of Mozambique’s visit to Niassa in late 2018, and subsequent deployment of a special police force and the mobilization of the helicopter, WCS has reported that no elephants are known to have been killed since May 2018. While this outcome is encouraging, we believe the situation remains precarious and we are keenly aware of how continued efforts are needed to sustain this success.
